The inside of K.J.’s place was both larger and less cluttered than he expected it to be. K.J. went for borderline-kitschy – there were a lot of cheap knickknacks and the curtains looked like a stretched-out Fruit of the Loom label – but it didn’t have a funhouse effect and Tony kind of liked it. It showed she had a playful side.
The two of them sat on a fabric sofa, sipping coffee.
“We can switch to beer later,” K.J. suggested. “I have half a mind to invite Avis over for a round, but he’d say no.”
“Do you think he holds you – I mean, us – accountable for all this?
